Modena, Italy
Summer 2019
Upon completion of the Propositions studio, I had the opportunity to enroll in the Spring Travel Course, Scenography and Statecraft, lead by Brittany Utting and Daniel Jacobs and investigated architecture’s participation in the geopolitical scenography of the Italian Peninsula. In Modena, we visited Rossi’s San Cataldo Cemetery, a project that uses the architectural fragment and type to highlight modernism’s difficult relationship with history, while also visiting the Ferrari Museum and understanding the evolution of organic form and its role in marketing of the cars within.
